The Best Double Buggy Strollers

If you're expecting twins, or have two young children of various age groups, a double buggy will help you out and out and. The best ones are simple to manoeuvre and deal with rough surfaces and kerbs.

These cars also come with features such as large sun canopy and transparent hoods, and adjustable seats.

1. Baby Jogger City Tour 2 Double

The City Tour 2 Double is the smallest double stroller within the Baby Jogger range. It's made for travel and easily fits through the majority of normal doors thanks to its slim design, it's also one of the most light double buggies available on the market, weighing just 14lbs when folded. It's perfect for trips with a newborn and toddler as you won’t over-exceed airline baggage allowances. It can also be folded into an incredibly small travel bag so you can store it in the back of your car.

The one-handed, Z-shape folding is a breeze, it's incredibly compact when you master it. It takes a few only a few seconds to unfold. However, our tester found the auto lock to be a bit confusing and as the handlebar doesn't lock into place when you press it, it struck her legs when she was using it. She also thought the handlebar was on the shorter side. This is especially the case when a large change bag hangs from it.

As opposed to other light travel buggies it doesn't sacrifice features and is one of the most comprehensive double strollers that are available. It can be used with two carrycots (available separately) It also has several recline positions and comes with an UV 50+ canopy. You can put an additional bassinet to either or both seats to make it a travel system.

The four rubber composite tires are ideal for pavements and urban terrain. However, they are not made for off-roading. They had a hard time with long grass and gravel and there wasn't enough clearance between the wheel bracket and the wheel and mud sank easily. That being said, our tester still loved using this buggy and it did climb some pretty dirt hills.

It's not as easy to use on public transport because it requires two hands to hold the handlebar. It's also quite bulky and won't fit into a standard car boot with the seat in place, but this can be overcome with careful planning. iCandy includes the footmuff and changing bag included in the cost, so it's a great value package for parents who are just starting out.

The 360-degree swivel can be locked in place to allow for easier maneuvering around town. The one-pedal lock brake is also simple to use.

Our testers noted that the Nipper Double was incredibly easy to maneuver, even walking on uneven ground or turning fast in the middle of a busy street. They were also awed by the fact that both seats recline independently, meaning they can be adjusted to fit individual needs - ideal for napping.

They also appreciated that the hoods were able to be moved back and forward making them easy to adjust in the sun or to provide wind protection. Our test subjects did notice however that they did not provide an enormous amount of coverage when compared to something like the Baby Jogger City Mini hoods and it's worth packing a rain cover to be prepared in the event of.

Overall, our testers were impressed with the way that the Nipper Double made it possible for them to take their twins Sydney and Lyla to all sorts of adventures, from spotting wildlife in the woods, to rush to the park for a quick playdate. They were also impressed by how comfortable and spacious the two seats are, with plenty of space for growing toddlers to sprawl out in. The absence of parent-facing seating and the inability to use a car seat on this buggy were both noted as a disadvantage by our testers. They would have preferred a larger storage space to store shopping items and other accessories.
